Are you capturing the same field measurements over and over again? Do your field workers perform safety procedures or plant walkarounds where the same data is collect at multiple times of the day?
In Obzervr Manager, it is possible to configure a Series Type to allow your field workers to capture the same field measurements repetitively. You can do this two ways based on:
-
Time; or,
-
Number.
The best example of a time-based series is a Plant walkaround. At 9am, 12pm and 3pm, you might need to go inspect the plant to ensure that it is operating safely and within expected parameters. In this scenario, the time interval is 3 hours (between each walkaround inspection) and there are three repetitions per day. Note that the number of repetitions and time interval is known in this example.
On the other hand, in a number (or count) based series, the possible number of repetitions is unknown. A classic use case of number-based series are defect assessments on mining equipment. The number of defects may vary depending on the asset, however, the defect identification process is the same irrespective of other factors, such as the type of asset (i.e. Dozer, Excavator, etc). Put simply, the same field measurements are captured repetitively, but the number of repetitions varies.
In Obzervr Manager, this is called a Series Type. Most workflows constitute an element of repetition, so incorporating series into the configuration of your workflow might be necessary.
How to create a Series Type using Obzervr Manager
To do this, navigate to the BUILD section of Obzervr Manager, click the Assignment Setup menu and select Series Type. You will be able to create a Series Type. Enter a name and select if you want the series to be time or count based.
A time based series type in Obzervr Manager looks like this:
The form will change if you select that you do not want the series type to be time based. For example, a number based series type looks like:
Other essential fields required to create the series type are the Phase of the assignment (i.e. Plan, Obzerv or Complete) and the Field Measurements that you want to add. These are the field measurements that the Obzervr Capture user will capture repetitively. Save the series type.
The second step of configuring series types includes attaching the series type to an assignment type. This is also found in the BUILD section. Select Assignment Setup followed by Assignment Type. Open an assignment Type and enter the name of your series type into the Series Type field. Save the Assignment Type.
