How to create an Assignment
To create an Assignment, click the Plus button. You will see this screen:
What is the Assignment Type?
The Assignment Type is the type of work or job that you are about to perform. Put simply, it is your business workflow. An Assignment Type could be a Baseline Assessment, Condition Monitoring or a Building & Pest Inspection. How this Assignment Type is defined is configured on Obzervr Manager. Wondering how to build Assignment Types? Check out the Obzervr Manager Getting Started series.
The Assignment Type governs what data you collect and how you do it.
What is an Assignment Category?
An Assignment Category is another way to categorise or subdivide an Assignment Type. For example, are you performing a routine inspection or is it ad hoc? Is the service you are undertaking a daily, weekly, 125 hour or 500 hour service? These are all ways to categorise a job you are about to perform.
What is the Assignment Point or Location?
This is where you are doing your job. The “Site Name” drop down is the most important. It will appear in the Assignment List. You will use this Location Point to differentiate between your Assignments.
Your screen might have a different name instead of "Site Name". Everyone does their work at a difference place. Generally, industries have similar names for their Assignment Point.
Some examples are:
- Customers in the Oil & Gas industry have Sites.
- Customers who do Building & Pest Inspections have Properties.
- Customers in the Mining industry have Plant Items.
