The Teams feature allows you to group multiple users into a group. Since fundamentally working with other people is critical, this means Teams has a far ranging impact within Obzervr Manager. How a Team is managed impacts Roles & Permissions are implemented for your Users and how the Teams are created. Find some tips below so you can manage your Teams effectively.
- Parts of Obzervr Manager affected by Teams
If you are in a Team, the parts of Obzervr Manager which are affected are:
- Dashboard
- Work
- Trips
- Work Setup > Work Templates
- Trip Templates
- Locations > Sites (assuming the same geolocation hierarchy as above)
You will only be able to view the items for which your Team has access to.
- Parts of Obzervr Manager not affected by Teams
The sections of Obzervr Manager which are not affected are:
- Teams do not impact the Configuration, Plant & Equipment or Laboratories modules on Obzervr Manager. These functions should still be managed by a Tenant Admin or someone with the General Config Admin, Equipment Admin/Reader or Laboratory Admin.
- Users
- Analytics
- Work Setup > Work Category
- Work Setup > Series Types
- Locations > State, Region, Project, and Catchment (assuming the same geolocation hierarchy as above).
Managing Teams
-
Moving people across Teams – if a User is taken out of a Team, they will not be able to see old Work which are assigned to the old Team. They will need to stay in the Team until the work is finished. The user should be a part of two Teams until their work has been finalised in their old team.
-
Not Assigned Team indicates that the Work or Trip is not in a Team.
-
Teams are created in Obzervr Console, which is accessed via clicking the Manage Tenants option from the Obzervr Manager Portal.
-
Test Plans will need to be added to the Team, as well as the Work Type. Even if you only have one Test Plan, it will need to be added to each Team so that Capture Users can use the Test Plan to add samples.
-
Your Locations will be filtered by the Team, but higher levels of the geolocation hierarchy will not. For example:
- Assume the geolocation hierarchy has five levels called:
- State
- Region
- Project
- Catchment
- Site
- You can add the Sites to Team. When the Team is selected, only the relevant Sites will show. However, all the States, Regions, Projects, and Catchments in Obzervr Manager will not be filtered by the Team. They will be filtered in Obzervr Capture.
- Assume the geolocation hierarchy has five levels called:
Creating Work
-
Create Work – set a Team but want to remove the Team entirely – click –Select a Team- to remove the Team and leave the Team blank. The Work will be a “No Assigned Team” Work.
- Select the Team prior to creating Work/Trip will filter the selection to Work Templates, Locations and Users in the Team. This means that Users, Work Templates and Locations not in the Team will not be shown. Alternatively, you can add the User, Work Point or Location to the Team and create the Work after.
Reassigning Work
You will not be able to reassign a Work or Trip to a User in another Team. For example, if you complete a Work and need to reassign to another User, the User will also need to be in the same Team as the first User.
Hope you find these tips useful for managing your Teams on Obzervr Manager!
